On Sunday, July 26, Ziggy had the privilege of performing at the Celebrate America 250 event, hosted by the Oakland County Historical Society. The event celebrated America's rich history and the people who have helped preserve it. What happened next turned an already special day into one we will never forget.
As Ziggy was playing, local musician Tom Wolf walked over carrying a 100-year-old banjo. Rather than simply watching the performance, Tom joined in. Moments later, the two musicians—separated by nearly a century in age but united by a love of music—began playing "Turkey in the Straw" together.
It wasn't rehearsed.
It wasn't scheduled.
It just happened.
For a few magical minutes, history came alive. A young violinist and a century-old banjo created a sound that connected generations, reminding everyone listening that music has always been one of the most powerful ways to bring people together.
The setting couldn't have been more fitting. During an event honoring America's 250th anniversary, an instrument that has witnessed nearly a century of history was paired with one of the next generation of musicians. It felt like the past handing the melody to the future.
